On July 16th, 2005, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling was released across the world. With the sixth book we say goodbye to a much beloved character, and Harry begins to make preparations for his epic battle against his nemesis Lord Voldemort with the hunt for horcruxes.
Published by Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom, and Scholastic in the United States, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince sold nine million copies on the 1st 24 hours of its release - a record which was broken by its sequel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The sixth book is notably darker than the five previous books, and won several awards. The film adaptation was released on July 15th, 2009.

Half Blood Prince is 652 pages long, however, there is a deluxe edition, that came with a special slip case and illustrations - which made the book 704 pages long.
Bloomsbury published Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on 30% recycled paper, in response to Greenpeace's campaign to use forest friendly materials.
JK Rowling dedicated the sixth book to her daughter, MacKenzie.
