10 Rising Young Actors Who Could Lead Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

Confirmed for theatrical release November 18th, 2016, author JK Rowling is currently in production as head screenwriter for Harry Potter trilogy spin-off.

Set decades before the famous story of the boy who lived in the jazzy 1920s, the main character will be Newton Scamander; a famous Magizoologist. In the wizarding world he authored Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is also the title of the spin-off, and as we guess, will feature his worldwide explorations into his career of discovering and cataloging magical creatures.

Though the film has not yet begun production, one must wonder who will be cast as the leading wizard in this exciting new series. Since the main character is approximately in his mid to late 20s when the story shall begin, it's exciting to presume the talented as well as charismatic possible choices for what will effectively be the new Harry Potter. Below is a list of actors we think must be up for the task!

Place your bets on who might be cast in the next Harry Potter-related franchise.

Jeremy Irvine became an actor to watch out for when he starred in the Steven Spielberg epic War Horse (2011), about a soldier's loyalty to his famed stallion, and vice versa, throughout World War 1. The young actor has also starred in a version of Great Expectations in 2012, alongside Harry Potter alumni Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

Joseph Morgan has his hands busy with his role as Niklaus Mikaelson in The CW's The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off The Originals. Both parts have made him popular already among the young adult genre on television, which might prove well if he was cast as Newton.

Kit Harrington has become a popular star portraying a favorite character Jon Snow on the popular television show Game of Thrones. The book series authored by George R.R. Martin and adapted by HBO is known for its brutal exits of popular characters. As of the season four finale, whether Harrington's Snow survives until series end remains to be unknown. Either way it might be a nice opportunity to cross fandoms.

Unlike other British born stars that have made the cut so far, this is the only Irish Actor on this list. Colin Morgan made a new for himself starring as Merlin on the hit BBC America show Merlin. He also has done some theatre work, and once guest-starred on Doctor Who. What's one more fandom to add to the list?

Perhaps what Newton needs is some rugged charisma for the planned trilogy with Alex Pettyfer in the main role. His recent claim to fame is most memorable for stripping down in Magic Mike. He also briefly co-starred in the movie star film historical biopic The Butler, and a remake of the romantic drama Endless Love.

Sam Claflin's work has ranged so far in a bevy of blockbusters that has made this English actor a popular face among multiple fan bases. Most recently known as Finnick in The Hunger Games franchise, Claflin also once starred in Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Like another name previous mentioned on this list, actor Douglas Booth starred alongside Harry Potter alumni Emma Watson in Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah (2014). He also starred as Pip (the same role Jeremy Irvine played) in another version of Great Expectations (2011).

Perhaps most similarly resembling Newton Scamander on the list so far, George Mackay is young actor from the U.K. Mostly paving his way on television shows, his previous work includes Birdsong, The Best of Men, and in the film How I Live Now alongside Dakota Fanning.

Having experience in some period-dramas before like the 2013 tv series The White Queen, perhaps Max Irons is ready to move up a few centuries with a turn as Scamander. Other films include Red Riding Hood, starring alongside Amanda Seyfried.

Our last handsome rising star on this list is Jack O'Connell. Dipping into both television and film, the British star may be most recognizable by fans of the BBC Show Skins. 2014 has become a prominent year for the young actor who still star in not one but three movies; previously released 300 sequel, and two war dramas 71 and Unbroken.
