Hold tight, Potterheads! Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will open June 13, 2019 at Islands of Adventure.
Set in the Forbidden Forest and inspired by the beloved Hogwarts's groundskeeper Hagrid, Universal Orlando briefly describes the attraction in their press release: "For the first time ever, join Hagrid as you fly far beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the paths of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures."
Since early 2018, anticipation has been building about the possibility of a new Hagrid inspired attraction coming to Islands of Adventure in Orlando, FL. Details first started to come to together about the ride's queue as well as one of the first posters featuring a mischievous Cornish pixie.
Tom Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, met up with art director Alan Gilmore in the Forbidden Forest to give us a sneak peak of the coaster. The coaster is promised to be one of the most innovative and immersive new attractions at Universal Orlando Resort.
The track will move up to speeds of 50 mph, go backwards, forwards, and have plenty of twists and turns. Almost 1,000 trees were planted to transform this part of Hogsmeade into the Forbidden Forest! Who knows what will be in store for fans whisking around the beautiful Hogwarts grounds.
During an extended look at the coaster, Gilmore revealed that the attraction's experience will be different depending on which part of the car you sit in - the driver's seat or the side car, and that the ride will simulate flying freely just like Harry did with Hagrid throughout his own journey.
There are plenty magical creatures and objects fans might see and run into in the Forbidden Forest including Fluffy, cornish pixies, the Devil's Snare, among many other creatures, including a brand new creature that's never been featured in the movies before.
Be sure to check out the Universal Orlando Resort official website for more info as well as a gallery full of amazing photos!
Currently, fans can enjoy two magical lands at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley feature immersive attractions, restaurants, and shopping. At Potter Talk, I look forward to joining Hagrid on his incredible adventure this summer.
