What Are Your Favorite Uncommon Harry Potter Ships?

The Harry Potter fandom presents a small conundrum for me: I'm not an avid shipper of any one couple. This is one of the cardinal rules of fangirling in general: ship or don't ship, there is no try.

When it comes to the wizarding world, I love every ship - what both the books and movies provided. I don't know if that makes me a little less of a hardcore fangirl, but sometimes I feel like it is: I'm not exclusive to ships and like to think of the What Ifs and love a little outside of common canon. There are a few Ships I Just Can't Help But Ship, that don't adhere to the relationships set up throughout the books by author J.K. Rowling. Are there any relationships that you can't help but love? Ron and Fleur

The Goblet of Fire film plays into this ship than the books. Even though Ron's rudeness to Hermione cannot be easily ignored, I do love Ron's scenes such as asking Fleur to the Yule Ball in a frightful panic. Other than that, there's nothing romantic going on between them except her appreciation for him "helping" Harry save her sister in the second tournament. By the end of the film, there's a sweeter connection extended between them.

In the fourth book, Ron is captivated by her Veela charms. However, Fleur's interest is clearly invested in his older brother Bill. Though the Weasley family, especially Molly and even Hermione and Ginny show disdain towards Fleur, Ron gives her the benefit out of the doubt. If they ended up together or were able to grow some sort of relationship, it would've been an odd and interesting pairing.

Viktor and Hermione

Though Ron x Fleur were a long shot, Viktor and Hermione had a genuine friendship. When they attended the Yule Ball, their relationship was purely platonic but with a dash of possible romance. Viktor showed interest in Hermione's intelligence and wasn't interested in the girls who were after his fame, and Hermione considered Viktor to be hardworking and gifted. After the triwizard tournament, they began exchanging letters all the way up until she joins Harry to hunt for horcuxes.

But could there have been something deeper beyond their correspondences? A slight intrigue about their possible future continues with Hermione inviting Krum as her date to Bill and Fleur's wedding. Yes she had feelings for Ron for the past year, but why not ask him out then and there or vice versa? Between Viktor and Hermione, there's a slightly bigger level of maturity; they are not the younglings from the Yule Ball anymore. Hermione evolves past her "Cinderella" moment and he grows out of being seen as a brutish fighter.

Harry and Luna

Grief was one of the first common grounds that Harry and Luna shared. In his fight against Voldemort, he lost his parents, friends, and a sense of his innocence. Luna's mother passed away when she was a young girl, and that experience transformed her to be kind, open, and still holding onto naivete. Living with her father, she was allowed to be unique and think outside of the box. Throughout the books and films, they understand each other's varied experiences from seeing thestrals together in the Forbidden Forest as well as Harry asking Luna to attend Slughorn's Christmas party. There are moments where Harry doesn't describe Luna in the best of terms, so he might've not been comfortable with her unique personality as a romantic interest. Outside of Harry being shipped with Ginny or Hermione, Luna is a popular choice, and one that I definitely stand behind.

Neville and Ginny

Both Ginny and Neville are considered apart of the silver trio outside of Harry, Ron and Hermione. They only have a few moments in the movies, and hang around each other like all of the other students in the books.

In Goblet of Fire, Neville still suffers from being a slight outcast, interested in Herbology and always trying to be more confident while Ginny is finding her way around her siblings and his friends. They attend the Yule Ball together, and it seems very sweet. They only have one other moment in Deathly Hallows Part 2 facing off against the scavengers at Hogwarts. Both are in different relationships both book canon and not - Ginny is pairing up with Harry, and Neville has a slight crush on Luna. By the time Neville kills Nagini and finally becomes the 'other chosen one', he would fit Ginny's outspokenness. There's no real textual proof that they weren't incompatible.
