What To Expect From Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

Universal Orlando Resort
As of June 13th, 2019, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is the latest Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction added to Universal Orlando Resort's theme park.

With rave reviews from fans, the coaster has unexpected twists at every turn from thrilling acceleration and drops to magical creatures.

What animal companions can we expect to see in the Forbidden Forest? How fast does the rollercoaster move? What does the merchandise look like?

Here's what you can expect from the new attraction while you're planning your vacation.

The Story Behind The Ride

Mysterious ruins lie behind Hagrid's hut. Our Care of Magical Creatures class begins once we meet with Arthur Weasley, Hagrid, and his loyal dog Fang in a pre-show experience brought to life with projection and special effects. As we make our way through the forbidden forest, we will come face-to-face from familiar and new materials such as dragon eggs, blasted-ended skrewts.

Boarding magical motorbikes, identical to Hagrid's in the Harry Potter films, guests will feel the freedom of flight as they journey through the forest. Above the trees and through mysterious ruins, the coaster will passengers forward and backwards as fans come face-to-face with the wizarding world's rarest magical creature.

Hagrid Comes To Life

Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure wouldn't be complete without its featured star, the lovable giant Hagrid. The model is a life-like creation of actor Robbie Coltrane with animator designers studying the actors mannerisms and voice. The actor himself recorded a custom-script for Hagrid, so we can expect all new dialogue and memorable phrases.

Universal Creative brings the beloved character to life with an animated figure that has 24 different body actions - all seven feet and six inches! The design team paid incredible attention to detail by recreating Hagrid's likeness with a hand-sculpted face which included taking digital scans of Coltrane's eyebrows, lashes, and individual hairs. Hagrid not only comes fully equipped with his siganture pink wand umbrella, but also a costume designed by the same team who created his on-screen look.

Meet Hagrid's Magical Creatures

With guests attending a Care of Magical Creatures class with Hagrid, it's only natural that students will likely come across some familiar and new companions from the film franchise. Universal Orlando Resort blog breaks down the creatures and plants that will be featured in the new attraction including:
  • Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog protected the philosopher's stone in the first movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Play them a bit of music and they'll fall right to sleep.
  • Centaurs. Featured in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, centaurs are part human and part horse who expect to be respected by wizards and witches alike.
  • Devil's Snare. While trying to track down the Philosopher's Stone, Harry, Ron and Hermione must learn to relax in order to overcome the first challenge they face in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Remember the spell Hermione uses in case you need to escape their perilous grasp.
  • Cornish Pixies. These troublesome creatures were set let loose by Gilderoy Lockhart in his Defense Against The Dark Arts class in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. And it seems that quite a few are still on the loose.
  • Blast-Ended Skrewts. Guests will come across this new creature which was never featured in the Harry Potter films. These fiery, lobster-like creatures will put guests on edge with their 8 feet long bodies and 10 feet long tails with stingers that may or may not give off a powerful scent

Accessibility

Riders must be at least 48 inches tall. Younger riders might be asked to be measured to see if they fit the attraction's height requirements.

There are tester seats located outside of the attraction.

During the attraction's opening day on June 13th, 2019, park guests who were tall, experience mobility issues, and/or plus-size were said to have issues boarding the attraction.

The motorbike and sidecar, which were replicated after the vehicle in the Harry Potter films, is limited space.

One general consensus floating around social media such as twitter and facebook is that if you are a certain height or weight - a 40 inch waist - fitting in the attraction vehicle might be a challenge.

As the ride opens more to the public and experiences are reported, this section will be updated with more information.

Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is located at Universal Orlando Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure.
