Newt Scamander's Family Grows: Brother Added to Sequel

Fantastic Beasts Adds Newt's Brother to
Callum Turner / Fantastic Beasts newest cast member
The cast for the second installment of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is taking flight. Earlier this month it was reported that Jude Law landed the role as a younger Albus Dumbledore, and now we have more information coming to light about Newt's very own family.

Callum Turner, whose credits include Green Room and War and Peace, has captured the role of Newt's war hero brother. All we know about this new character is that he became an auror after the wizarding war and was tasked to track down Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). We're left to wonder what fantastically clever name author J.K. Rowling has up her sleeve.

The Fantastic Beasts franchise received a bombshell last year when Rowling changed plans for the then three-movie series to become five movies. The overall arc of which is to explore Newt's adventures as well as the underlying war between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. The author penned the script for the first film, and is moving forward with the second script. Veteran Harry Potter director David Yates sets to return as director.

Turner has a quite full plate in the months ahead. Filming for the sequel begins this summer. The young actor landed the lead in Marc Webb’s The Only Living Boy in New York opposite Jeff Bridges, which opens in August.

As every Harry Potter project, Rowling keeps every detail close to the chest. Details of the plot for the next Fantastic Beasts movie is still under wraps.

What we know from the first film is that Grindelwald has been taken capture by the MACUSA as Newt sets sail for the next part of his journey. We expect to see returns of the likes for Tina Goldstein, Queenie, and Jacob as well as many more fascinating, exotic creatures.

Are Newt and his brother allies or enemies? What do you think of the new casting?
