Fantastic Beasts Fans 'Fix' Casting of Gellert Grindelwald

Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts films

When Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them filming began, and more details came to light about the cast and story, a major portion of the fanbase was disappointed about the casting of one vital character. The decision to cast Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald has been an ongoing, subtle issue within the Harry Potter franchise when actress and Depp's former wife Amber Heard made allegations that she suffered domestic abuse during their marriage.
As news of the spin-off's sequel were released, especially a cast photo including Depp, Fantastic Beasts fans took to twitter to fix the casting of Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. While Fantastic Beasts was trending, tweeters were replacing Depp with other actors, cropping him out of the cast photo entirely, and wondering if it's too late to get Colin Farrell back (he previously played a version of Grindelwald).

Fans who are pleased with Depp's casting believe the one thing to fix Fantastic Beasts is to add a lot more of him, and are excited about where he will take the character next.

Though and director David Yates and author JK Rowling respectfully stated that at the time of casting believe in Depp's work more than his personal life, fans were still none too happy - especially since the Harry Potter phenomenon delves into issues of abuse from the boy who lived and his immediate family with the Dursleys, as well as magical creatures like house elves and their masters.

Either way with the sexual abuse allegations with various directors, producers, and actors throughout Hollywood coming to light his year, scrutiny and validation of the victims' stories are becoming  more important than ever. The deal with Depp to play Grindelwald has been a done deal, but we will and wait see if the tide turns enough for Warner Bros respond again to their casting decision.

Are you happy with Johnny Depp's casting as Grindelwald? Does his casting inhibit your excitement for the sequel?
