LEGO & Harry Potter Unite To Release Innovative Diagon Alley Set

LEGO inspires children and adults to tap into their imagination and build their dream sets. Along with the magical sets of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, The Knight Bus, and so many more, LEGO is teaming up with Harry Potter once again to bring an innovative new design of Diagon Alley to life.

The magical shopping street in the wizarding world is one of the most iconic locations in the Harry Potter series. It's the first place where Harry Potter crosses the threshold with Hogwarts groundskeeper Hagrid to collect his supplies for his upcoming year at Hogwarts.

The latest innovation designed with the help of the Weasley brother twins James and Olive Phelps is coming to and LEGO stores globally September 1.

 This large-scale LEGO set features:

  • Buildable QR code to take you “Through the Bricks” that serves as a digital element
  • Top features like a hidden lever to trigger movement of the arm/hat of the statue in Weasley’s shop
  • 14 Minifigures, which include exclusives like Gilderoy Lockhart, Florean Fortescue, Lucius Malfoy and the Daily Prophet Photographer
Fans can also take a dive into imaginative LEGO's AR experience to travel "Through the Bricks" by building your very own QR code, just like the Phelps brothers!

From the official press release:
The set brings the two worlds together in a magical hybrid: a rich and versatile display model, with a modularity aspect that allows fans to choose how to display the shops (all in a row, swapping them around, or even placing individual shops on different shelves!).

Measuring more than a meter wide and made up of over 5,000 pieces, LEGO Diagon Alley features the famed wizarding world shops packed with authentic details from the movies to truly capture the ambience of the street.

Behind magnificent and detailed storefronts lie intriguing interiors, fascinating features and familiar characters. Fans can recreate some of their favourite moments from the Harry Potter film series including; discovering the wands at Ollivanders™ from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone dropping in on Gilderoy Lockhart™’s book-signing event at Flourish and Blotts™ bookstore from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; or obtaining a love potion from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes™ from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Marcos Bessa, LEGO Harry Potter Design Lead commented: “I love how faithful the final design is to the architectural details in the film. You can barely see some of these buildings zooming past your screen, but we tracked down different photographs from the sets – some of them from nearly 20 years ago – to make sure everything is spot on. Diagon Alley is the biggest set I’ve designed to-date and I am really proud of how it has come together.”
The model measures at 11 inch in height to 40 inches wide, making it one of the biggest Lego and Harry Potter sets. Builders will set 5,544 pieces to recreate Diagon Alley in their own homes. Includes 14 minifigures: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Ginny, Molly Weasley, Ollivander, Fred and George, Gilderoy Lockhart, Lucius Malfoy, Hagrid, Florean Fortescue, the Daily Prophet photographer

Diagon Alley Set includes the following shops: Ollivanders™ Wand Shop, Scribbulus™ Writing Implements, Quality Quidditch™ Supplies, the Daily Prophet™, Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor, Flourish & Blotts™ bookseller and Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes™

You can purchase the Diagon Alley set on LEGO.COM and in LEGO stores.
